Vuelve a Casa is a free, community-driven platform that helps reunite lost pets with their families. It started from a simple idea: a poster with a QR code stuck on a corner can travel much further than a thousand fleeting social-media posts.
How it started
We are an Argentine couple living in Spain. After watching family and friends lose pets, find them, and then have to leave their phone number scribbled on a street poster so the finder could reach them, we decided to do something different. He is a software engineer and builds the platform; she is a scientist and brings the rigour to the data and moderation; his mother, from Argentina, runs the social media and the community. It is a small, family project, made so that nobody has to expose their phone number on the street to get their dog or cat back.
How it works
- The owner creates a search and describes their pet.
- We generate a printable poster (A4 colour or B&W, plus Instagram images) with a unique QR code.
- Whoever finds the animal scans the QR (or opens the link) and lands on a public page with photo, last seen location, owner contact if they chose to share it, and a moderated tip wall.
- Neighbours leave tips, photos and sightings on the wall. The owner sees them all.
What we aim for
Cut down the time between the loss and the reunion. Every hour counts. We give owners concrete tools (ready-to-print posters, persistent QR, scan statistics, collaborative wall) without asking anything in return.
What we are not
- We do not sell data. Ever.
- We do not charge to post a search.
- We are not a professional tracking service or a shelter.
- We do not implant microchips or manage adoptions.
Who is behind it
A small family: an Argentine couple living in Spain and one founder's mother helping out from Argentina. We work on stolen hours because we believe coming home should not depend on luck or on having your phone number out on the street.
The community
The platform is funded by voluntary donations, local sponsorships and ads on public pages. If you want to help, visit the Support Us section.
